Mark and Andy conducted an EICR of a one bedroom flat. There were a multitude of problems which presented themselves in a recently renovated bathroom, with serious faults, which were immediately disconnected. Mark advised that I should make the renovation company aware of these faults and give them an opportunity to rectify these issues. As I was on a tight schedule to prepare my property for rental, he was prepared to and able to ensure remedial work (rewire, location and correction of fault on lighting circuit, amongst many others) was carried out two days before I was due to relocate, even making rearrangements to his work schedule. In addition, Mark also carried out PAT testing and installed hardwired fire alarms and CO detectors in the flat with no damage to existing décor. EICR came twice – first of all to carry out the inspection and report on what needed to be repaired/upgraded to current letting standards. They then came to carry out the work, which had all been itemised and costed so we knew which things needed to be done now and at what cost. This was really helpful in allowing work to be phased. On both occasions, Mark and his assistant came when arranged and carried out the agreed work to a very professional standard, cleaning up afterwards. I think it is a very good idea that we paid a deposit before each visit. This provided reassurance that Mark would come as agreed and, from his point of view, it meant that we wouldn’t cancel at the last minute, having “found a better offer” (which we hadn’t!).

I recently came back to Edinburgh where I own 3 properties to oversee the installation work for new smoke alarms and EICR testing. I contacted Mark at EICR Edinburgh and was relieved to have someone guide me through everything I needed to do, Mark also organised a Gas fitter, Legionaire tester and a company to carry out an energy survey. There was minor remedial work which was corrected swiftly, 1 fuseboard to change to a modern one, 3 smoke alarm systems and hard wired CO detectors installed in all properties. I cannot praise Mark and his team highly enough. I required several electrical faults to be corrected, and they completed these jobs to the highest possible standards. Much of the work was repairing the shoddy work done in the past by ‘electricians’ who cared little for the quality of their work or for the safety of the householder. I had previously asked a number of electricians to examine the problems that I was having with the electricity in my house, and until Mark came along, every one of them had been unable to help. Some of them even charged me, just for looking! Mark, with his exceptional knowledge of all things electrical, examined, and repaired every electrical component in my house, fitting a new fuse-box, rewiring and replacing all sockets and making sure that the flow of electricity into the house was adequate. Some of the jobs, such as fitting an extractor fan in the bathroom requiring a lengthy outlet pipe taking the moisture outside, seemed so complicated to me that I didn’t think it would be possible. (Which is probably why previous attempts to do this, by inferior workmen had been abandoned).
This was a very big job and it was completed within 4 days. The amount I was charged for this was more than reasonable. I recommend Mark at EICR Edinburgh without reservation.
